Club Rules

Each member is responsible for knowing their own playing handicap for club competitions.

In the event of a 36 hole match the handicap of the competitors cannot change between the first 18 holes and the second.

New members need to have four (4) scores posted in club competitions to be eligible to participate in weekly club competitions.

New members who don’t already have an MGA GHIN No. are not allowed to post scores directly. They need to submit their scorecard for review, to the Club Handicap Chairman. All scores need to be adjusted using ESC (Equitable Stroke Control).

Each member is required to submit their scores to the handicap chairman or post their score, when playing any round as per USGA rules.

The cut off date for the Club Championship is the first Sunday in June, or the 1st Sunday after ‘The Irish Open’

In order to qualify for the Club Championship a minimum of two rounds must be recorded with the club, in weekly competitions only, before the cut off date. (Not including Inter-Club matches)

For scheduling purposes the draw for the President’s Cup will be made at the A.G.M. if possible.

In the case of a tie in any match the first playoff hole will be the 1st hole, or at discretion of Golf Course management, depending on what’s available.

All finals to be played as per venue on Club Schedule. Change to the venue is allowed by request to the Green’s Committee.

The official tournament card is the responsibility of the lowest handicapped player in each group, however, a player signs the scorecard for their own score only, and all competitors must sign the scorecard, otherwise score is null and void.

When the back tees on a particular course have a slope rating of 130 or more then the tees immediately in front of them must be used. EXCEPTION … Ladies will play from front tees using front tee handicaps plus adjustment indicated by course rating.

New members* with no MGA handicap are prohibited from playing in any of the club’s “Majors”. i.e.. The Club Championship, The President’s Cup and the Partner’s Championship.

In singles competitions strokes given are the full difference of handicaps between the two players.

Partners/Fourball. The lowest handicapped player concedes strokes to the three other players based on 90% of the difference between the handicaps as recommended by the USGA.

It is every player’s responsibility to know the conditions under which the competition is played.

Maximum Handicap Index for playing in Club Competitions is 28.0 for men and 28.0 for ladies.

If all players to an upcoming match are present on any tournament day the match must be played regardless of the cut off date. (Partner’s take precedence.) No matches have to be played on the first tournament date of the year, i.e., Opening Day. In singles, if two players have pre-arranged a match beforehand, they have the right to play regardless of Partner’s availability.

Each member is asked to text whoever is scheduling competitions on any given week, if they intend to play in the upcoming competition. However, any player who calls/texts, and fails to show for the competition will be charged $50.00. If any player can’t fulfill their obligation for a tee time, they need to call 48 hours beforehand to cancel, otherwise any charges incurred by the
club, are the sole responsibility of the player. Every effort will be made to find a replacement player, and if one is found, then there will be no charge for late cancellations.
